Netflix added the thriller film Prisoners to its collection on December 11th, and it’s already the No. 1 movie on the streamer.

Prisoners is a 2013 film directed by Academy Award-nominated director Denis Villeneuve.

The film is about a desperate father who searches for his 6-year-old daughter and her friend after being kidnapped. While searching for clues, the father finds himself fighting with the lead detective on the case and decides to take matters into his own hands.

Prisoners’ parent’s guide and age rating

Prisoners have been rated R. This may be inappropriate for ages under 17. The reason for this age rating is the involvement of disturbing violent content, including torture. Strong language is also used throughout the film. Viewers can also expect graphic violence, excessive drinking and drugs used by some characters, mild sexual references, bloody content, various weapon use, and a brief illustration of suicide.

So, this film contains many scary and intense scenes that parents would deem inappropriate for younger audiences to watch. It is strongly recommended to watch Prisoners when no kids are around. Parents can always turn on a kids’ movie or show to keep them busy, and Netflix already has many options.
