Back in August 2018, the world was shocked by the murder of Shanann Watts and her two young daughters by her husband, Chris Watts. The family man reported his pregnant wife and two young daughters missing, which sent the town of Fredrick, Colorado (just north of Denver, Colorado) into a frantic search. But barely three days into the search, Mr. Watts was taken in for a polygraph test, failed and then admitted to killing his entire family. It was truly a harrowing story at the time.

Over the weeks following his confession, Chris Watts would go into detail about what he did to his wife and his young children. He would admit to having a mistress and many believed that she was the reason he went on this brutal killing spree. What’s more, Watts’s actions during the few days he led the search for his family led many to believe he was a psychopath of some sort. In the Netflix special American Murder: The Family Next Door, there is video evidence of his erratic behavior on police body cams.

And it is those videos that are now the main topic of discussion in the new documentary Chris Watts: A Faking It Story, available on Discovery+ UK. Forensic psychologist, Kerry Daynes, leads the examination of Watts’s behavior throughout TV interviews and police footage following the supposed disappearance of Shanann and the girls. Body language expert Dr.  Cliff Lansley is also brought in to analyze Watts’s gestures and manner of speaking during these same videos. It all adds up to some pretty chilling revelations.
