2024 has passed quickly, and now its 2025. Leaving some things in the past might be a good thing, but what about all the popular new albums released last year? Here are 5 albums to keep listening to in 2025 for a great start to the new year.
Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Society, Gracie Abram’s The Secret of Us, Charlie XCX’s Brat, Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, and Sabrina Carpenter Short n Sweet were all released in the year 2024. These albums were all, and still are, very popular with listeners all over the globe. No doubt these talented artists will make more songs in the new year, but whilst we are waiting there are many albums to listen to.
2024 has brought us many new albums and many exciting songs, and whilst much more music will be released in 2025, here are 5 albums to continue listening to in the new year:
The Tortured Poets Society – Taylor Swift

- Best lyric – “I was tame, I was gentle ’til the circus life made me mean. Don’t you worry, folks, we took out all her teeth.” – Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?
Taylor Swift is one of the most famous singers of all time, with her previous albums reaching consistently on the top charts. The Tortured Poet’s Society is no exception. Along with this album release, Taylor has also completed the famous Eras Tour which spanned the globe. Did you go and see her?
This album has an amazing 35 songs, 31 of which are original tracks. You can see how she has evolved from her previous albums such as Red to more poetical but still impactful lyrics.
There are so many impactful and catchy songs from this album, some of my personal favourites are:
- Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me – This song is one of the most powerful on the album, with impactful lyrics telling us an engaging narrative.
- But Daddy I love him – This song is fun and catchy, with unique lyrics about breaking out of other’s expectations.
The Secret of Us – Gracie Abrams
- Highest Rated Song – That’s So True
- Release date – 21st June 2024
- Best lyric – “I know what you are, brighter than the stars. Tell me if she takes you far” – Blowing Smoke
Gracie Abram has once again shot up the music charts with her new album. There are 17 new songs from Gracie and, like each of her albums, you can see a slightly different vibe but still the same basic genre. The Secret of Us shows a fun side to Gracie’s often melancholy music, with upbeat tunes such as Risk and Packing it Up. Gracie’s tour continues into the new year with the Netherlands and Germany in January and February.
My favourites include:
- Tough Love – This track is one of my favourites as Gracie takes the listener on a journey about failed relationships and life.
- Blowing Smoke – This song was my first favourite of the album when Gracie released it and continues to be on repeat.
Brat – Charlie XCX
- Highest Rated Song – Guess ft. Billie Eilish
- Release date – 7th June 2024
- Best lyric – “I’m a brat when I’m bumping that” – 365
Brat is officially the word of 2024 according to the Collins Dictionary. For one word to dictate such an impact, especially on social media, it has to be a noteworthy album. It was indeed a Brat Summer, with the colour lime green plastered over TikTok along with dances to Apple.
Like most of the artists in this list, Charlie XCX is also on tour. In June, Charlie is going to play multiple concerts around the UK and Ireland, namely Manchester and Dublin. She will also be off to America in the same month to perform concerts everywhere from New York to Chicago.
Some of my favourites include:
- Apple – This song was the travel that repeatedly played on social media, and deserves the media attention as it is catchy and upbeat.
- 365 – This song is the most iconic out of this album as it voices the Brat album title. This song is an energetic party track with a unique beat that you should continue to listen to in the new year.
Hit Me Hard and Soft – Billie Eilish
- Highest Rated Song – Birds of a Feather
- Release date – 17th May 2024
- Best lyric – “She’s takin’ pictures in the mirror, oh my God, her skin’s so clear” – Lunch
Like all of her albums, Billie Eilish has once again released a popular album, full of trending songs. Known for her distinctive quiet but powerful voice, Billie has released 10 new songs.
Billie is on tour again this year! In July of this year she will be travelling around the UK, Ireland and Europe to play her new album.
Some of my personal favourites:
- Birds of a Feather – this song is the catchiest song on the album with its distinctive beat and vocals.
- Wildflower – The vocals on this track are almost ethereal and the song fits really well with the rest of the album’s tone.
Short n Sweet – Sabrina Carpenter
- Highest Rated Song – Bed Chem
- Release date – 23rd August 2024
- Best lyric – “Guess I’ll waste another year on wonderin’ if, if that was casual, then I’m an idiot” – Sharpest Tool
Sabrina Carpenter has become immensely popular this year with her top track Expresso and her equally successful album Shorn n Sweet. These pop songs are all confident and fun tracks with unique beats and lyrics and are the epitome of summertime.
Sabrina, like Taylor and most of the others, has also been on tour this year, travelling throughout the world performing tracks from this high-charting album. We’ll be able to expect lots more popular tracks from her in 2025.

- Dumb & Poetic – This song is one of my favourites as it has Sabrina’s typically sarcastic phrases mixed with strong vocals and brutal lyrics
