After perfecting their signature dream pop sound, The Two Lips are taking their music to the next level with their new singles “kiss goodbye” and “brb.”

From being a preschool teacher and working as a server to playing at one of the world’s biggest music festivals, Coachella, the duo has had an explosive and exciting year. With their catchy choruses and relatable lyrics, The Two Lips are cementing their place in the mainstream of indie-pop music.

Who are The Two Lips?

Based in Los Angeles, The Two Lips is an indie dream pop duo formed by Andre Flowers and Julie “Jewlz” Gurule. Before their music career, the duo grew up on the same street, orbiting each other’s space without ever meeting each other. It wasn’t until the pair officially met in 2022 that they began to make music together.

While working on music together, the pair posted covers and began to tease their music on TikTok. In 2023, the pair officially released their debut song “do you even know?,” with no major industry connections and no fancy studios. It was just them, the bedrooms, and their laptops. From there, their music would become highly reminiscent of the bedroom pop era back in 2017, popularized by artists such as Clairo, Cuco, and Beabadoobee.

Although releasing music wasn’t their top priority, as Andrea continued to pursue her preschool teacher job and Jewlz continued to serve, they still managed to squeeze some music in throughout 2023 and 2024. It was not until early December of 2024 that the duo struck gold with “still love you (todavía).” The song is a hazy and intimate ballad as the pair describes the internal struggle of love during a heartbreaking relationship.

“still love you (todavía)” blew up on TikTok, bringing the duo new listeners and catching the attention of the music industry. Soon, the girls were in meetings, figuring out management, and securing a record deal. With the virality of “still love you (todavía),” the duo was able to quit their jobs and focus on their music full-time. What started as a fun side project amongst friends became a dream come true. As of early 2026, “still love you (todavía)” has over 64 million streams on Spotify and continues to garner traction.

girl, c’mon!

Throughout 2025, the pair continued to release singles, eventually leading to the release of their debut EP girl, c’mon! on November 7, 2025. In celebration of the release of their EP, the duo shared in an Instagram post that the EP is “a love letter to ourselves and everyone finding their way through their twenties.”

“The title is a reminder to pick yourself up, to keep going, even when life feels heavy or uncertain. These songs capture the highs, lows, and in between of being twenty-five.”

“it’s complicated” plays on early 2000s coming-of-age movie soundtracks with its toned-down guitar riffs. Its rock-esque style is also similar to Beabadoobee’s earlier sound, as seen in her song “Talk.” The song details the complicated ups and downs experienced during a situationship or tumultuous relationship.

Moving away from this rock sound, the duo continues to experiment and hone in on their signature dream-pop sound in “enemy.” The song portrays what it’s like to be a self-sabotager, exploring insecurities and self-destructiveness. “When you’re looking at me / I wonder what do you see,” the pair sing, “I’m my own worst enemy.” “cup of tea” continues to touch upon these themes of self-worth. It’s undoubtedly raw and heartfelt as the pair sing about learning to love oneself.

The EP closes off with “happy for me,” a song about a partner’s dreams “coming true” and hoping that their relationship can withstand the changes it brings along. The duo worked on the song with Rebecca Sugar, who is known for working on songs for both Adventure Time and Steven Universe. Sugar adds to the dream-like atmosphere the duo creates with the mystical sounds of an omnichord permeating throughout the track.

New singles

While embarking on their Kiss and Tell Tour, which spanned nine dates across the U.S. and Canada, the duo began teasing new music. The duo began posting videos of themselves dancing to an unreleased song on Instagram and TikTok.

Soon after the pair announced their new single “brb,” which was released March 19. “brb” takes a step back from the previous bedroom-pop sound the girls have been creating. Instead, combining yacht rock with their signature dreamy sound to create a yacht dream pop sound. Although the song is different from their previous sound, it is a welcome departure. The single details the emotional experience and longing in a long-distance relationship. It is a soft and melodic track that embodies the feeling of holding onto memories to fill a void a partner has left behind.

A few weeks later, right before their Coachella debut, the duo released another song that plays into the yacht dream pop sound they experimented with on “brb,” called “kiss goodbye.” Accompanied by a tender trumpet and lo-fi-sounding beats, the pair sings about an addictive relationship. “If I never see you later, you can be my perfect stranger,” the pair sings, expressing the what-ifs of relationships, “Different floor, same elevator (One last kiss goodbye).”

More recently, the pair released a song called “In Every Lifetime” from the new Prime Video series, Off Campus. The song veers away from their signature dream-pop sound, adopting a more electro-pop style.

Coachella and more

On Friday of weekend 1 of Coachella, The Two Lips made their Coachella debut on the Sonora Stage. They brought their dream pop aesthetic to the main stage with songs such as “favorite apple,” “blossom,” and “clue.” In celebration of their debut, the pair held a small and intimate concert before their weekend 2 performance at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood.

Although The Two Lips are only three years into their music career, they are quickly solidifying their place in the mainstream of indie pop musicians like The Marías, Clairo, and Mitski. As they continue to release new music outside of their comfort zones, like “In Every Lifetime,” the duo will continue to gain a bigger fanbase and play on bigger stages.
