On Sunday night, Billboard’s 2023 ‘Women In Latin Music Gala’ aired live on Peacock and Telemundo—honoring Latin women who have significantly impacted the music industry.
El domingo por la noche, la Gala ‘Mujeres en la Música Latina’ 2023 de Billboard se transmitió en vivo por Peacock y Telemundo, en honor a las mujeres latinas que han impactado significativamente la industria de la música.
This gala is special indeed. It’s the first Latin Billboard music event honoring women specifically.

Opening Ceremony (Ceremonia de Apertura)
Hosted by Latin icons Ivy Queen and Jacky Bracamontes, the ceremony was set to be a fantastic night. Latin superstar Thalia shut down the stage with her opening all-star performance dressed in eye-catching leopard glam–ultimately forcing the audience to rise out of their seats and dance to the rhythm.
Organizada por los íconos latinos Ivy Queen y Jacky Bracamontes, la ceremonia iba a ser una noche fantástica. La superestrella latina Thalia cerró el escenario con su actuación de apertura de estrellas vestida con un llamativo glamour de leopardo, lo que finalmente obligó a la audiencia a levantarse de sus asientos y bailar al ritmo.
Shakira Makes History (Shakira Hace Historia)
The ceremony’s highlight was Shakira receiving ‘Woman of the Year.’ This accolade ultimately makes Shakira the first Latin woman to achieve this milestone. Nothing was handed to the Colombian superstar.
With over 13 Latin Grammy awards and 8 Latin RIAA-Certified Diamond records, it’s evident that Shakira earned this achievement by applying herself musically and perfecting her craft throughout her 32-year career.
El punto culminante de la ceremonia fue que Shakira recibió el premio ‘Mujer del Año’. Este galardón finalmente convierte a Shakira en la primera mujer latina en lograr este hito. Nada le fue entregado a la superestrella colombiana.
