The Tony Hawk Game™ game series, created by Activision, is a beloved video game franchise that has been thriving since its initial release in 1999.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was the first game to be released. I personally have incredibly happy memories playing the first game with my sister on our PlayStation 2! On September 4th, 2020, Activision celebrated its post 20th anniversary by releasing its newest addition to the series: Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 1 + 2. This is a remastered version of the original games, with new (unlockable) playable characters added to the mix. One of which is none other than Jack Black, decked out as “Officer Dick.”
Jack Black revealed his digital rendering on his personal YouTube Gaming Channel, Jablinski Games, on September 4, 2020, the same day as the game’s release. The video is titled “Officer Dick,” and it has since reached nearly one million views on YouTube.
If this was a marketing ploy made to generate buzz around the game, it is certainly working! The likeness of Officer Dick’s image to Jack Black is truly incredible.
“I’m here at Activision Headquarters,” Jack Black says to the camera. “They’re going to capture my image. They’re going to body scan me. And [motion capture] for a little cameo, a little secret cameo I’m doing. A little easter egg.”
“Spoiler alert: I’m gonna be in the new Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 remastered version.” He informed the audience, posing next to the man, the myth, the legend himself: Tony Hawk.
“I’m gonna be Officer Dick.” He finished, striding off into a montage showing the behind the scenes of this very process.

According to Tom Phillips from Eurogamer, the newest addition to the Tony Hawk game series has sold approximately one million copies since its release ten days ago. It is officially the fastest selling game in the history of the franchise.
Whether that’s because of Officer Dick’s appearance or not (there’s currently hundreds of videos to scroll through on YouTube centered around how to unlock this DLC), that is left up to the imagination of all Jack Black fans.
