Grab your popcorn, put your feet up and laugh at a good bad film.

Good bad films are a genre in of them themselves. They’re a great choice when your sat in and fancy laughing at something. Here are four films that fit into this “so bad they’re good,” category.

Cockneys vs Zombies (2012)

You can get everything you need to know about this film from its title. A zom-com set in the east end of London, featuring old geezers and young crooks, what’s not to love? Cockneys vs Zombies is pretty much a cheap Shaun of the Dead rip-off, with the added bonus of Alan Ford (known most commonly for playing Bricktop in Snatch) as a gun-slinging grandad. It is a film that doesn’t take itself too seriously, making it fun and easy to view.

Jiu Jitsu (2020)

Funnily enough, in this film, the title has nothing to do with the movie. You do not need to be a martial arts expert to doubt whether the creators of this film even know what Jiu-Jitsu is. Jiu Jitsu’s plot centres around a warrior alien who comes to Earth every six years looking for the best fighters on Earth to battle, soldiers who are named “the chosen Jiu Jitsu.” Despite its convoluted, cheesy plot, the film features some decent Guy Ritchie Esque camerawork and some entertaining fight scenes, just don’t expect any Jiu Jitsu. The film also features Nicholas Cage doing a frontflip.

The Man with the Iron Fists (2012)

The Man with The Iron Fists of the Wu-Tang Clan is written and directed by RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan and is an ode to the old samurai movies which inspired the famous rap group. In preparation for making the film, RZA was given a little advice by Quentin Tarantino, and you can see the renowned filmmaker’s influence. The film’s over-the-top violence and general vibe is reminiscent of Kill-Bill with added silliness. The film has quite the cast featuring Lucy Lui, Dave Bautista and Russel Crowe as “Jack Knife.” It features plenty of crazy fight scenes and cartoony uses of weaponry and is worth a watch if you’re looking for a good, bad film.

The Wicker Man (2006)

Another feature on this list for the king of the bad film, Nicholas Cage. The Wicker Man is a classic bad film, the remake of the 1973 folk horror film was hated by critics and, in recent years, has been the spawn of quite a few memes. The film’s build-up is not too bad, though a little slow, but the last half an hour makes this film so classic. When the film attempts to drive home its horror element, it descends into chaos. If you want Nic Cage running around punching people in a bear costume, this is the film for you; just make sure you watch the unrated version if you want to catch the famous “not the bees,” scene.
