Nothing but respect for my president.

In a few short months, the U.S. will begin its midterm elections meaning that Americans will have officially suffered through 50% of Trump’s presidency. With that into consideration, there’s a lot of talk about who should run for president in the 2020 election. The ideal and promising candidate, according to social media users, is Oprah.

Yes, you read that correctly.

The one and only Oprah is being encouraged to run for president by a lot of people on the internet. To be fair, can you blame them?

Recently, she gave out a phenomenal and inspiring speech at the Golden Globes affirming to us all that ‘A new day is on the horizon.’

However, should this new day be a presidency for Oprah?

Sites like Etsy, Redbubble, and Spreadshirt are already gearing up for her potential participation in the 2020 elections. They’re selling a plethora of items—shirts, hats, hoodies, and coffee mugs.

Despite the social media hype, it looks like a lot of Americans do not believe that Oprah should run for president. And yet, according to a POLITICO/Morning Consult Poll, several voters would still prefer Oprah to other potential candidates, including Trump.

It’s true that Oprah possesses a distinct level of class, elegance, and versatility that the current U.S. president lacks; nonetheless, this issue begs the question:

What are we to make of this rise of celebrity in the political sphere?

If this keeps up, who’s to know what is in store for other industries.

Either way, catch me sporting my Oprah 2020 hat.
