On the 22nd of October, Adidas will release trainers that look like Chewbacca for £119.95.
Adidas has been celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back by releasing special edition sneakers, such as Yoda shoes, Princess Leia sneakers and Darth Vader pairs. Now it has released its latest and final addition, which honours Wookie Chewbacca.
The Design
The pair is a redesign of the classic Rivalry Hi and features a lot of faux furs, which means it cannot be missed. I mean that literally, like if you’re wearing these out people might stop and stare at you. In that sense, they certainly do Chewbacca justice as he’s not a character to be missed. Though, if you’re not a fan of the spotlights I’d recommend one of the other shoes.
Other than hairy, the shoes are 7’5″ to represents Chewie’s large figure and Adidas made a piece for the tongue, which looks like the belt he wore in The Empire Strikes Back. There’s also a picture of Chewbacca with his name on it, plus a sock liner with other images of him. If nothing else, Adidas’ design is certainly on brand.
Chewbacca
Chewbacca, of course, is a legendary Wookie warrior and Han Solo’s co-pilot aboard the Millennium Falcon. He was named one of the “greatest sidekicks” in film history by Entertainment Weekly and has been an absolute fan favourite amongst Star Wars fans.
Is It Worth It?
Responses to the shoes vary on Twitter with one user writing: “I have enough trouble keeping my friend’s dog off my leg as it is,” and another saying: “Oooooh wow!!! Ya’ll ain’t playing ? “
The shoes will be sold for £119.95 starting from October 22nd at 9 AM on the Adidas site. And you know what? Apart from its iconic look, all the hair might be perfect to keep you warm this upcoming winter.
