Whoever flushed their stash, it has washed up on the coast of the Florida Keys.

According to the US Border Patrol Miami Sector, “good samaritans” have discovered 15 pounds of marijuana and 10 pounds of cocaine over the weekend.

Officials say that there has been a series of large bags of cocaine, weighing about 1.1kg being reported by boaters in the chain of islands.

US Border Control spokesperson, Adam Hoffman, that the most recent discoveries are a part of a larger finding of 73 pounds of cocaine worth $1.7 million back in April.

In unrelated events about early May, 62 pounds of marijuana worth $100,00 was found by a boater in the Middle Keys. In December, 25 bricks of cocaine was found in the Craig Keys by a snorkeler.

The Florida shoreline have long been used by drug smugglers from Cuba and the Caribbean despite the US Border Control’s efforts to halt drug trade in their state.

Although the drug trade is deep-rooted in the area, all of the packages have been handed over to US Border Control.

Hoffman had this to say in his statement:

‘We are grateful for the community’s support to our border security mission here in Florida.’
