Television has a deep and rich history, and its story could not be told without mentioning HBO’s, The Sopranos. The show spanned six seasons from 1999 to 2007 and is widely considered one of the best television series of all time.

A lot of that has to do with the writing of David Chase, but James Gandolfini’s portrayal of Tony Soprano is the stuff of legends. So when you hear Gandolfini filmed a secret scene revealing the fate of Tony and his family, you pay attention.

As you can see in the tweet, the person who spilled the beans on the secret scene was actress Edie Falco, who played Carmela Soprano (Tony’s wife).

Falco says that the reason the unreleased 10-minute scene was filmed was to help recruit NBA star, LeBron James, to the New York Knicks during his 2010 free agency tour. If you are not familiar, that recruitment pitch did not work out too well as James ended up leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat.

Now, back to the topic at hand: the alternate ending. Considering the series’ end scene is one of the more controversial of all time, I would have loved to have known about this sooner. To me, the ending was not as good as it could’ve been. Obviously, that is just my personal preference, but I did not get the closure I yearned for from such a spectacular show.

With that being said, I like the alternate ending producers came up with. If you have seen the show, you know Tony Soprano deals with a lot of battles being the lead man of a crime family. And with his mental burdens, I could see Soprano turning to a life of witness protection. But whatever the case, that is not how the show actually ended. What we are left with is a black screen that made us think our cable went out on the first watch.
