Online dating has become the new form of finding love in the modern age, especially in the current COVID climate where physical contact with other people is limited. So, it comes as little surprise that the founder of the dating app Bumble, Whitney Wolfe Herd, has become the youngest self-made female billionaire.

According to Bumble’s prospectus, Herd owns 11.6% percent of the company, however LADBIBLE reports that after shares soared by more than 76%, the company was valued at $14 billion.

Bumble was founded in 2014 by Wolf Herd following her position working for rival dating app: Tinder. What makes Bumble different from Tinder and other dating apps, is that it encourages women to make the first move.

Wolfe Herd tweeted following the news, thanking the women who used the app suggesting that their participation made the company’s success possible:

The 31-year-old billionaire is also according to Forbes, the youngest female CEO ever to take a company public in the US, making this achievement another one to add to her feats.

Bumble’s bold stock-market debut not only makes a statement to its competitors, but means it joins companies such as AirBnB who achieved similar success when they opened last year with shares more than doubling.
