The footage from the intersection of Broadway and Exchange Alley has been colourized and the sound enhanced to get a real feel of the city.
The video shows horses and carts trotting over tram-lines with oncoming traffic belling them out of the way and the streets are full of people walking around the city.
The footage has been upgraded to 60FPS and is incredibly high quality considering the time that it was from and makes you think about how different life was for those living in New York at that time.
