Nicolás Escobar, nephew of famed drug lord Pablo Escobar, revealed that he once found plastic bag containing $18m of cash in a wall at one of his uncle’s estates.

The younger Escobar claimed he only thought to check the walls because of a ‘vision’ which encouraged him to investigate his uncle’s Columbian apartment. The money was found in one of Pablo Escobar’s properties in Medellin.

This is not the first time Nicolás claims to have found bank notes stashed away.

In an interview with Red+ Noticias, Nicolás explained that he smelled the notes before he found them.

“Every time I sat in the dinging room and looked towards the car park, I saw a man entering the place and disappearing.

“The smell [inside] was astonishing. A smell 100 times worse than something that had died.”

Nicolás Escobar had been living at one of his uncle’s properties for the last five years and took note of this strange activity. Upon investigation, he found that the smell was caused by the decay of many of the bank notes.

Along with the money, Nicolás also found several artifacts, including a camera with undeveloped film, a pen made of gold, satellite phones, and a typewriter.
