DMV Confuses Lady’s Face With Chair

And you thought your licence was embarrassing.

25-year-old Jane Dodd could reasonably be expected to endure many things while living in Tennessee. An overabundance of country music, perhaps, or far too much country ham. But not being mistaken for a chair.

However, the Tennessee DMV decided to finally stop people from complaining about long wait times, by showing what happens when they take things too fast. Namely not being able to tell the difference between a person and a chair.

When Dodd received her new licence, only to find that the picture was of an empty chair, she was understandably surprised. She told local news station WKRN, “I was with my mom and we were going to eat lunch and I said, ‘You need to see this, this isn’t right.”

As you can see, Dodd looks nothing like a chair. Image via YouTube/FOX59 News

It’s not quite clear how this could’ve gone so wrong. Surely at least one person had to see the license in the process of printing and sending it. Maybe they were just incredibly busy? Maybe the DMV feels that being too proficient would dilute its brand?

It turns out that the offending photo was taken by mistake and happened to be the last one on Dodd’s file, which is why it was chosen. There’s nothing stopping you from believing my DMV brand theory, though. Or maybe Jane Dodd is the first human-chameleon hybrid? I’ll leave it to your imagination.

Dodd seems to be taking it quite well either way, despite the inconvenience. In fact, the licence is bringing people together in a strange sort of way, as Dodd reported:

“My boss thinks it’s funnier than anyone. I was at work Friday and he pointed to a chair outside of his office door and was like, ‘I thought this was you, I waved at it this morning’ and I was like thanks,”

Amazingly, this isn’t even the worst licence the internet has seen recently. At least the chair wasn’t animated.
