Donald Trump Shares Bizarre Clip of Himself Edited Into the Movie ‘Independence Day’

Ever wonder what Independence Day looked like, but with Trump?

During these unprecedented times, the internet has been thriving with new, creative content. One such clip was retweeted by American President Donald Trump: a clip of himself superimposed onto a scene from the film Independence Day (1996). If quarantine wasn’t weird enough, we can now watch Donald Trump deliver President Thomas J. Whitmore speech uniting all of humanity against a common enemy (aliens). Quite a parallel isn’t it?

The heavily edited clip was retweeted by Donald Trump on Saturday, May 16th. It was created by a Twitter Meme account, @Mad_Liberals, who “[makes] memes for our President, Donald J. Trump!” Surrounding the superimposed Donald Trump are the GOP Allies, family and media personalities, including Vice President Mike Pence, Senator Ted Cruz, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, heavily photoshopped into the crowd, responding to the passionate speech.

Kaelan Deese of The Hill claims that:

“The video edit hit a relevant note, as the creator likened Trump’s motivation to reopen the country to the following line in Pullman’s speech: ‘And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday but as the day the world declared in one voice, ‘We will not go quietly into the night!’’

The tweet received more than 10,000 retweets, on YouTube it has received 68,881 views. This skyrocketed to 180K likes and 60K retweets when Donald Trump retweeted it. The reception was largely positive in the comment sections, except for actor Bill Pullman who played President Thomas J. Whitmore himself. When asked about the clip, he commented:

“My voice belongs to no one but me, and I’m not running for president — this year.”
