The investigation’s on Netflix, folks.

If you’ve never heard the story of Madeline McCann, let me enlighten you. Back in 2007, Madeleine and her family were on vacation at a resort in Portugal. Her parents went to dinner at a restaurant at the resort, not too far away from their room, where they left Madeleine and her twin siblings sleeping. According to the parents, they went back to the room to check on their children every hour or so. That’s when they noticed that Madeleine was missing.

Despite the amount of attention this story received and the high priority that investigators placed on the investigation, there was still no trace of Madeleine. At one point over the past ten years, even her parents were on the suspect list.

Because this story took the world by storm, Netflix is now releasing a documentary about it, featuring new suspicions that Madeleine may still be alive and was perhaps kidnapped by human traffickers.

Here’s what private investigator, Julian Peribanez, had to say during an interview for the documentary:

“Traffickers normally go for ‘lower class’ children from poorer countries.

That’s the main supplier of these gangs. The value that Madeleine had was really high because if they took her it’s because they were going to get a lot of money.”

Hopefully, the documentary will help dig up new details that can possible help in the investigation. Madeleine’s parents refused to participate because they claim that since the investigation is still ongoing, their participation might hinder it.

Senior Child Protection Officer Jim Camble shares his positivity about possibly finding Madeleine by claiming that the case will be solved during his lifetime. He also said:

“There’s huge hope to be had with the advances in technology. Year on year DNA is getting better. Year on year other techniques, including facial recognition, are getting better.

And as we use that technology to revisit and review that which we captured in the past, there’s every likelihood that something we already know will slip into position.”

Well, the documentary is on Netflix as we speak so it couldn’t hurt to check it out. While you’re at it, here’s Netflix Opens Up Bandersnatch Pop Up Shop In Birmingham!
