Game Of Thrones Season 8 Runtimes Has Fans Running In Disbelief

This may not be the worst thing in the world.

The eighth and final season of the American fantasy drama, Game of Thrones, will begin on April 14. While the HBO hit seems to have anticipation through the roof; there is one thing that is giving their fans pause as the long-awaited premier inches closer.

Looking back at the previous seven seasons of the show, the first six consisted of ten episodes, and the seventh had seven episodes. This eighth and final season is said to only be constituted of six episodes according to HBO.

What’s even more wild about this, is the runtime of each installment. Since this season appears to be their shortest ever, one could only assume that the writers would make up for the lack of episodes in longer runtimes per episode — WRONG.

According to the information released by HBO, the first three episodes of the season will be about an hour in length. The final three will be roughly an hour and 20 minutes. Not exactly the marathons that fans were hoping for.

On the surface this may seem disappointing to have such short runtimes. Especially in a season that is almost half as long as normal, but this may not be so bad. Having such a condensed final season to a show might just mean there’s less time to fluff the episodes. Which means, in my opinion each episode will be filled to the brim with more action and excitement.
