The exciting but overcrowded nightlife in Tokyo has always been a New York-esque experience for all those who live within the city, fly from America to kick off their studies, or visit their grandparents for Thanksgiving dinner.

Even if you’re only spending 4-5 days in the Japanese capital, there is a plethora of activities to take part in, including going on a Mario Kart-inspired go-karting tour, dining at the Sanrio Cafe in Ikebukuro, and running on the famous Shibuya Crossing to take a quick photo before you get stampeded by a large crowd (just kidding).

Now, if you’re serious about going to Tokyo and you have the plane tickets and luggage ready, the only thing you would need to take care of is which hotel you’re staying in. Having the right budget means you’ll find the right place.

Enough about me, now. For the best hotel recommendations, I have found two experienced travel experts who have been in Tokyo for a long time: Johan Siggesson, founder of Johan Siggesson Photography; and Josh Hinshaw, founder of LuNi Travels. Without further ado, here are seven hotels that can comfort you and your wallet for a few nights.

This is definitely the place to stay if you’re a fan of Japanese shoji sliding doors and stunning panoramic views. Aside from that, many of the suites provide opulent amenities that can replenish your energy and body after a long flight, such as daily breakfast, refreshing bathrooms with traditional stone furo tubs and toiletries, and spas. The hotel has an eye-soothing view of the city skyline and a calm atmosphere to give you a taste of luxury and keep your mental health intact.

“A luxury oasis harmonizing minimalist design with vast skyline views. The calm atmosphere and spa are great for travelers who need a slice of serenity in the city,” says Siggesson.

Now, if you’re on a cheap hotel budget, the Hilton Tokyo might work for you. Not only do they provide comfort and freedom at an affordable price, but they are also adjacent to many shopping centers and 4-star restaurants in Shinjuku.

”A solid choice for the mid-range price tier with good access to the nightlife, dining, and transport in one of the busiest wards of Tokyo,” notes Siggesson.

Self-parking is also ¥1,500.00 ($9 USD), and early check-in/late check-out is absolutely free if you care.

Imperial Hotel Tokyo

Located in Ginza, this hotel offers a taste of old Japanese luxury and incredible 24/7 service. Siggesson says that the hotel is a great choice for first-time visitors who love a touch of history. Once you are situated in the hotel, you will have the opportunity to explore Ginza the second you leave the hotel building for the day. By the way, Ginza is also a spectacular circle of fashion, so if you plan to shop in its extensive range of clothing and luxury shops, you need to choose this hotel.

Tokyo Station Hotel

Okay, just to let you know, this hotel is in a train station. Kind of crazy, right? However, that shouldn’t interfere with your time and peace in this hotel, as it gives you the most stress-free experience of your life and offers exceptional necessities, including free Wi-Fi, French bath amenities, and closer access to the subway for service to any district in Tokyo you want to go to, as per Siggesson.

Park Hotel Tokyo

The Park Hotel Tokyo, which is (another Siggesson quote incoming) “full of character and with good panoramas, artistic design, and uniquely curated rooms,” is a 4-star art hotel that blends luxury and comfort with contemporary art. This place flawlessly serves as a safe haven for anyone who loves both art and Japan. By the way, if you can find the right suite, you’ll be able to see an eye-caressing sunset over Mount Fuji and Minato City at the same time!

HOSHINOYA Tokyo

HOSHINOYA Tokyo serves as a high-rise ryokan and an ode to traditional Japanese culture. They bring comfort and tranquility to your body while making sure every one of your needs is addressed and fulfilled. Spend a few nights in this place and indulge in the soothing amenities, and you wouldn’t have to leave the hotel to look for a spa near you or listen to ASMR videos on YouTube to feel warmth.

In case you’re wondering what the amenities are, let’s ask Josh Hinshaw: “They feature tatami-matted rooms, open-air hot spring baths on the roof that are open to the sky, and a guest-only lounge on every floor serving complimentary seasonal snacks, teas, and sake.”

If you plan on spending a fortune on Mickey Mouse plushies and five rides at the Tokyo Disney Resort, be prepared to have the best experience of your life at the Hilton Tokyo Bay. Right after getting off the Uber from the airport and going inside the hotel, you will be greeted by hotel staff who will introduce you to the luxury suite that belongs to you only.

“If your trip includes Tokyo Disney Resort, this is the smart way to do it,” says Hinshaw. “They have whimsical Happy Magic rooms, a massive Lawson convenience store in the lobby, and extensive pools. It feels like a vacation within a vacation.”

They also have an on-site Disney store and the monorail that will take you directly to Tokyo DisneySea or Disneyland in just two minutes.
