I’m a true ASMR defender until the day I die and I believe that there is a perfect style of ASMR for every person out there. If you automatically disagree with that statement, you may be a stubborn person who tried ASMR once, hated it, and never tried again. Or maybe you’ve only seen the uber-popular egg peeling ASMR. Either way, I’m here to encourage you to give ASMR videos another chance.

ASMR is a genre of media where creators use sounds in order to get the viewer to feel a tingly sensation and relax. Each ASMR video is quite different based on the creator and what triggers they use. The triggers are what makes or breaks a video and what works for some people, doesn’t work for others. Personally, I hate any sort of crinkling trigger, but I absolutely love mic scratching.

If you’re ready to give ASMR a chance or an ASMR lover who wants to discover new creators, I have six different styles of ASMR to introduce you to. From mic triggers to rhythmic ASMR, hopefully you’ll be able to find some sounds that give you the tingles, tingles, tingles….

Classic ASMR

Starting off with the basics, a classic ASMR video is for the people who just want to hear satisfying sounds and nothing else. I consider a classic ASMR video to be a video with minimal talking and basic ASMR triggers like tapping and scratching.

For those who would enjoy listening to three hours of tapping triggers to help calm their minds, here are some ASMR creators for you to check out:

Hypnotic Dreams ASMR makes long form content intended for you to zone out and fall asleep to or play in the background. Her videos don’t usually include talking so you can relax without any interruptions. Her videos range from spending two hours tapping on the same object to videos with multiple triggers she makes for people with ADHD and shorter attention spans.

ASMR Bakery is another classic ASMR creator who makes long videos for you to sleep to. Her ASMR videos are great for those who need a more intense sound to relax to as she utilizes her microphones as ASMR triggers. She also comes up with some rare triggers, such as tapping on salt blocks and pulling banana floss that keep her videos unique and interesting.

Lofi ASMR

Lofi ASMR is perfect for those who love unintentional ASMR. If you love the sound of tapping on a table after getting a fresh set of nails, that’s lofi ASMR! Many lofi ASMR creators rely on their phone mics and simply tap and scratch on every day items around the house.

If low quality ASMR and less intense sounds are more your style, here are some of my favorite lofi ASMRtists:

Eevy ASMR is my favorite lofi ASMRtist. I’m not usually one to click on a lofi ASMR video, but I watched one of her floor scratching videos and became obsessed. She always has great nails to tap and scratch on items in her house or outside in her nature tapping videos. She also makes ASMR with her dogs by scratching and petting their fur, which is the perfect video for any animal lover.

Memoirs ASMR is a great choice for those who like public ASMR. If you like listening to your ASMR with noise in the background, then public lofi ASMR may be a good option for you. Memoirs ASMR makes great public ASMR content for TikTok and Youtube and isn’t afraid to get the good sounds in public, even though some people might question why she’s tapping on every item in a store.

Roleplay ASMR

A lot of people may think roleplay ASMR is weird, and yes, some roleplay videos are a bit…out there. However, I’m recommending some of my favorite ASMR roleplay scenarios for you to relax to that are a little more tame than “cellmate does your makeup in prison ASMR roleplay.”

Roleplay ASMR is good for those who like personal attention triggers that focus more on relaxing visuals rather than just sounds. It’s also good for those who love a good story and want to have a little fun with their ASMR.

Here are some of my favorite roleplay ASMR creators:

edafoxx ASMR started a trend when she posted a video roleplaying a girl playing with your hair at the back of the class. This started a huge trend with ASMRtists using wigs and mannequins to simulate doing the viewers hair. edafoxx ASMR will always be the queen of this roleplay though, as she has multiple wigs of all different hair types for every viewer to be included in her videos.

ASMR Aura makes me laugh. Her goofy characters such as mean girl, girl with no boundaries and coworker who’s OBSESSED with you makes for fun and tingly roleplay videos. Her videos are full of jokes and acting skills as she fully commits to every character she portrays all while making great ASMR.

Mic Triggers ASMR

Mic triggers are my personal favorite style of ASMR. I love when creators aren’t afraid to scratch on the microphone or put random objects like silicone cups or plastic makeup bags on top of the mic for the most intense sounds.

For those who love the same type of ASMR as me, here is in my opinion, the best ASMR videos to watch:

Maeve ASMR is hands down my favorite ASMRtist of all time. I watch every single video she posts without fail. She uses long, stiletto nails to scratch, scratch, scraaaaatch the microphone which sends the best shivers down my back. She also has a great ASMR intro, which is a big deal in the ASMR community. Maeve is an ASMR creator that truly is not afraid to use her microphone and will put anything on the mic to get the best sounds.

ASMR Jade is Maeve’s ASMR bestie as the two of them have collabed on videos and love to shout each other out in their channels. Jade is another creator who is super creative with her mic triggers. She has a collection of homemade foam mic covers that she decorated with gems and stickers to bring mic scratching to a whole other level. My personal favorite is her star cover!

Mouth Sounds

Alright, you either love or despise mouth sounds. Personally, I love them, but if you don’t, then I won’t try to convince you otherwise. This is the most controversial ASMR trigger in the community as some people click off a video as soon as they hear any sort of mouth sound whether it’s a simple, dry tongue click or the highly divisive spit painting.

For those who aren’t afraid of mouth sounds, here are the best creators for you:

Batala’s ASMR is the queen of mouth sounds. She’s one of the original ASMR creators as she’s been making videos for years and continuously developing her talent for ASMR. Batala truly has a talent for ASMR and a special talent for mouth sounds to the point where you almost think she has to be using sound effects. Her reverse trigger is truly amazing and my favorite mouth sound of hers.

MellowMaddy ASMR is another ASMR creator who has tingly mouth sounds that make up a great ASMR intro. Her clicky mouth sounds paired with tingly hand movements and visuals are perfect for those who enjoy a dry mouth sound over a stickier one.

Rhythmic ASMR

The final ASMR genre I want to introduce everyone to is one that’s pretty new and deserves more attention. Rhythmic ASMR involves very basic triggers like tapping and scratching but elevates them with a pattern, making a beat instead of an assortment of noise.

While this isn’t a hugely popular trigger, there’s a few ASMR creators that make great rhythmic ASMR for their audiences to enjoy:

Tony Triggers ASMR makes lots of setting and breaking the pattern rhythmic ASMR that I highly enjoy watching. He makes sonically interesting patterns with the simplest of items and breaks the pattern to keep listeners intrigued but relaxed at the same time. It’s almost as if you’re listening to ASMR music, which I think is perfect for when you need something to play in the background while working.

Ozley ASMR clearly spends a lot of time on her rhythmic ASMR videos. The constant metronome in the background of her videos keeps her sounds perfectly on beat to make a high quality rhythmic ASMR video. She also posts behind the scenes on her TikTok for those of us curious to how ASMR gets made.

Relaaaaaaax…

I listen to ASMR while reading, doing work and of course, when it’s time to wind down for the day. Right now, I’m listening to an ASMR video by Maeve ASMR (who could’ve guessed!) while I make up this ASMR guide for ASMR lovers and newcomers to enjoy.

There are so many other ASMR triggers and creators that I didn’t mention in this article that hopefully you’ll discover on your own ASMR deep dives. But for now, hopefully I gave you some good suggestions that you can use to relax and get a good night’s sleep. Goodnight everyone!
