Thank you, dance gods!

Who’s ready for more dance, romance, and straight-up drama? I know I am! You can have all that and more with Step Up, the TV series. Originally slated for a 2017 release, Step Up: High Water will hit YouTube Red in January with 10 episodes.

Intended to follow a similar plotline to that of the movie series, High Water will follow the journey of Sage Odom and Janelle. Sage, played by none other than Ne-Yo(swoon), is the founder of an Atlanta performing-arts school. Janelle is just a young woman who thinks her hip-hop dancing is enough to break her into the competitive dance scene. But it wouldn’t be Step Up without some love and incredible dancing along the way. Check out the trailer!

Formerly of Glee, Naya Rivera also joins the cast. She will play the role of a dancer-turned-administrator named Collette. Of course, she is not without her own secrets, hinting at an old affair with NeYo’s character.

Although Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum won’t actually be starring in the show, they will be helping out as executive producers. The original movies’ producers will also be on hand. For the music, some tracks for the dance numbers will come from Grammy Award-winning Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd and Jingle Punks CEO Jared Gutstadt. Lace-up your dancing shoes and get ready to move! Step Up: High Water arrives on YouTube Red January 31.
