Johnny Depp surprised fans as he got on stage at a Jeff Beck concert after his defamation trial‘s closing arguments.

Although Depp is best known as an actor, performing in well-known roles such as Captain Jack Sparrow, The Mad Hatter, and Edward Scissor Hands, Depp is also a musician. He has played the guitar for Alice Cooper’s side project band The Hollywood Vampires for several years. Over lockdown, Depp worked with Jeff Beck to record a cover of John Lennon’s track ‘Isolation’ which he performed on stage in Sheffield.

The cover track recently re-entered the charts during the highly-publicised defamation case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

While everyone was surprised to see Depp performing in Sheffield fans were divided over how they felt about it. Some users supported Depp saying “He finally gets to breathe and do what he loves! Good for him.” Whilst others weren’t so impressed saying “So Johnny Depp is on tour with Jeff Beck. The one who’s been cancelled.”

Depp travelled to Sheffield just after his legal team entered their closing statements in his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp claims that an opinion piece written by Heard for The Washington Post in 2018 ruined his reputation and had a negative impact on his career. After a six-week-long court case, it is now in the hands of the jury to decide if Heard did indeed defame Depp.

This isn’t Depp’s first court case sprouting from his marriage to Amber Heard as in 2020 he lost a libel case brought against The Sun over an article that labelled him as a ‘wife beater’. After all the media coverage of this most recent trial held at Virginia’s Fairfax County Circuit Court many fans are sided with Johnny Depp, however, there is still speculation about what the final outcome will be.
