Fans of the wildly popular fantasy book and film series The Lord of the Rings have something to get excited about this week. It has been announced that a vinyl boxset soundtrack of the first film, The Fellowship of The Ring, will be released in April. Although the final film in the Lord of The Rings series was released back in 2003, the movies and their source material, a trilogy of novels written by J. R. R. Tolkien, have retained a huge global fanbase. The series’ cult following means there certainly won’t be a shortage of fans clambering to get their hands on the lavishly packaged boxset.

The boxset features 180 minutes of music from the film’s beloved soundtrack, composed by Howard Shaw. The set will contain five LPs on red vinyl packaged in a decorative collector’s box, complete with a map of Middle Earth, and two hardback books with information on the complete recordings. With the original soundtrack from the film having sold over 7 million copies, fans of the franchise will have to be as eager as Sméagol to grab one of the individually numbered sets, which are limited to a printing of 5,000.

For those unable to snag one of the collector’s edition vinyl boxsets, retailing at around $119, a CD version will also be released. The CD bundle will include the books and retails at the slightly lower price of $79.
