It is common knowledge that Stray dogs are put down in Russia’s cities that will host the 2018 World Cup this summer. Allegedly the government is spending £1.4m to get rid of them.

Nevertheless, after petitions and complaints, Russia said will “stop” the killings and open animal shelters.

Now, Russia’s reason to kill the animals is due to the influx of tourists and general media attention.

Deputy premier Vitaly Mutko, a Russian ex-sport minister recently ordered the animal shelters for the two million stray dogs.

However, ‘canine KGB’ death squads apparently received  £1.4million to do the killing.

According to Ekaterina Dmitrieva, director of the City Animal Protection Foundation many dogs have already died.

Moreover, FIFA is turning a blind eye to the actions taken by the Russians and this made many campaigners angry.

Finally, hopefully, Mutko’s words would be truthful and the animals will have hope.
