WATCH: Trailer And Thoughts Of the Return Of Stephen King’s ‘IT’ Is Unreal

I hope you like clowns!

This is one of those trailers that does it’s job absolutely right. It gives you a taste of what you’re experience is going to be like watching the film, it doesn’t reveal too much, and it gets you insanely excited to get out to the theaters.

This trailer has me ecstatic for the remake of “IT” because I go way back with this movie. This is probably true for a lot of people, but the original adaptation is easily the root of many fears and nightmares I had as a kid, and is probably why I get slightly uncomfortable around adult clowns now. Nonetheless, I can’t help feeling a great amount of nostalgia-induced, childlike glee at the thought of a remake with the skyrocketing improvements in filmmaking technology. However, childlike glee aside, let’s get into the meat and potatoes of what makes this trailer exciting.

As you know, we have obviously come a very long way in the technology of filmmaking since the first adaptation in 1990, so immediately you’ll notice how cool the visuals are. The wonderful cinematography by Chung-hoon Chung (“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”, “The Handmaiden”, “Oldboy”) mixed with Maine scenery is naturally something to look forward to. The same goes for the costume and set design. The set design makes the movie look ten times as terrifying with it’s extremely old houses, sewers, and of course, horrifying old dolls. Not to mention, as beautiful as it is, the Maine scenery certainly adds to the element of horror, too. Also, the costume design is so flawless, could you even tell that Bill Skarsgard plays Pennywise? Honestly, neither could I, but that’s probably because no one really knows who he is unless they’ve watched “Hemlock Grove” or “Allegiant” from the “Divergent Series”.

This remake contains also includes some of the most talented young actors on the screen right now, including one of my favorites, Jaeden Lieberher. If you’ve seen “St. Vincent” or “Midnight Special” you’ll know why I think he’s so talented. However, if you don’t recognize some of these actors, I’m sure you were pleased to recognize Finn Wolfhard, who played Mike Wheeler in “Stranger Things”.

There are a multitude of reasons to be excited for the 2017 version of “IT”, so mark September 8th in your calendar and get out to see it.
