From Trump encouraging mining on the moon to uncertainty as to where it actually is, now his Space Force is planning to build a base on the moon John Shaw, the US Space Commander leader, confirmed on September 29 2020.

At the Air Force’s AFWERX Engage Space Conference the US Space Commander Leader confidently claimed: “At some point, yes we will be putting humans into space.” He then claimed that the Space Force “may be operating a command centre somewhere in the lunar environment.”

Last week NASA and the Space Force discussed the achievement of particular objectives, but have assured people that this base will not be created any time soon. Shaw,  via C4ISRNET, claimed that this base will not be at the top of the Space Force’s to-do list due to space being an inhospitable environment for humans and therefore satellites and robots will be prioritised for space travel.

Although, NASA did just announce a $28 billion plan to return astronauts to the moon before 2025, so whether this prompts Trump to set up his base sooner is yet to be seen.

Though, maybe by setting up the base Trump will justifiably be made one of the faces on Mount Rushmore…
