Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl accepted a challenge from a 10-year-old fan, Nandi Bushell, to a drum battle. Their exchange of tweets might just be one of the most heartwarming moments of this year for music.
Nandi Bushell is quite well-known herself though, the young girl has even caught the attention of celebrities such as American singer-songwriter Lenny Kravtiz with her drumming skills online. She caught Grohl’s attention when on August the 17th she posted a video of herself on Twitter playing the Foo fighter’s 1997 hit ‘Evermore’. The caption above the clip read: “My dream is to one day jam with Dave Grohl, @taylorhawkins and all the @foofighters!” She continued: “Mr Grohl I would love to have a drum battle with you! I LOVE Everlong it’s really hard to play as it’s so fast but so much FUN! #foofighters”.
The famous musician responded with his own tweet, in which he accepts her challenge and actually plays a new song called ‘Dead End Friends’. The tweet reads: “Hey @Nandi_Bushell! Challenge accepted. Haven’t played these songs in a loooooong time…..thanks for the inspiration!!! Your move!!! Your friend in rock, Dave.” During the video, Grohl also reveals that he has watched all of Nandi’s videos and says that she is an amazing drummer. You can find his full response below.
Nandi tweeted her thanks to the musician before challenging him again. Fans took to the internet to express their happiness at the ongoing challenge between the two drummers, with one fan even claiming that it was one of the most important things happening in 2020.
