Jaden Smith To Play A Young Kayne West In Showtime’s New Series

Can he pull it off?

“Yo Jaden, I’m really happy for you, Imma let you finish, but Kayne is the best Kayne of all time,” is precisely what I expect Kayne West to say to Jaden Smith on the set of the Showtime’s upcoming limited half-hour anthology series called Omniverse. The young actor will be portraying an “alternate reality” version of the notorious music artist in which the “many doors of perception” will be explored, according to Variety.

Jaden Smith’s philosophical views have been… unique to say the least, surely making him an ideal fit for the job. Other qualifications include his rather impressive track record as an actor (The Pursuit of Happiness, The Karate Kid), rapper, singer, and songwriter; all of which, showcase his range as a creative artist.

The writer for Omniverse, Lee Sung Jin (Undone, Silicon Valley), has said of the project:

I’m honored and thrilled to be collaborating with everyone involved to present an alternate world through the eyes of a young man somewhere in the multiverse who happens to also be a Kanye West. Omniverse is not set in our world nor about our world’s Kanye West as we aim to add a new spin on alternate realities, consciousness, and push the limits of half hour narrative.

My attention has definitely been grabbed; however, that’s pretty much all we know about the series as of right now. Hopefully some new juicy information will pop up soon for us to snack on. Until then, keep your third eye open people.
