Leaving Neverland impacting Michael Jackson’s career is an understatement. It’s affecting more than just his music. The Simpsons’ creators decided that it would be best to take the episode featuring MJ’s voice off the air.
In the episode titled ‘Stark Raving Dad’, Homer gets admitted to a mental hospital and meets a man who he’s convinced is Michael Jackson. The character, voiced by Jackson, clearly isn’t the famous superstar, and Springfield goes fan-crazy when Homer tells them that Michael Jackson and is bringing home when he is released from the institution.
Diehard Simpsons fans might be disappointed. Here’s what James L. Brooks had to say:
“It feels clearly the only choice to make. The guys I work with—where we spend our lives arguing over jokes—were of one mind on this.
This was a treasured episode. There are a lot of great memories we have wrapped up in that one, and this certainly doesn’t allow them to remain.”
We have yet to see all of the effects following the airing of the documentary. Now here’s a documentary to make you laugh: Netflix Will Soon Air a Documentary on the Totally Fake Frye Festival!
