Seattle artist Dylan Pierpont exposes the world of Harry Potter for its grim underlying themes by illustrating re-imagined movie posters.
The infamous series has been made into seven films, all of which present visuals that cater to a PG audience. But the series is not void of dark, grim moments.
“A while back I was thinking about a few of the stories and characters that had a big influence on me growing up,” Pierpont commented on his website. “And while Harry Potter was by far and away the most age appropriate of the group, I couldn’t help but remember how dark some of the themes became over the course of the series.”
Pierpont’s project, #ScaryPotter, reveals the ghastly themes of each book by connecting text from the story to the illustrations:
