Kava: A Drug That You Don’t Need To Fear

This stuff is crazy.

The new drug, such as bath salts or acid, often brings with it a litany of horror stories and cautionary tales. “You’ll rip someones face off!” “You’ll think you turned into a glass of orange juice!” Kava is the new drug of interest, and with this one, no temporary psychosis will be induced.

Grown on the pacific islands of Hawaii, Kava is a plant, when ingested, produces relief and well-being; in a Shock Mansion report on the drug, a local likened its effects to marijuana. However, Kava is not psychoactive–you will not experience the “head high” associated with a drug such as marijuana.

Despite the well-being and sanity that Kava will bring, all good things will have their drawbacks. This drug looks and smells like mud. The Kava roots are ripped from the ground, stripped into long strands, and then mixed with water. Finally, the saturated strands of Kava root are squeezed into a bucket, where the drug is ready to be consumed.

On the pacific island of Pohnpei, the drug is used in a social context. To bury the hatchet or make amends with a friend, a cup of Kava is shared between the two. Through the relaxing properties, conflicts are eased and friendships are resumed. In Pohnpei, the drug is legal and is used by all people of suitable age.

To all of those who are curious, Kava is legal in the United States; the World Health Organization deemed the drug to be safe and is a low-health risk.
