British Tourists High on Weed and Laughing Gas Drive into an Amsterdam Canal

At 9:30 pm, on Sunday, August 9th surprised locals in Amsterdam watched a car drive into a canal.

A video taken from the event shows a white car slowly sinking into the water, then cuts to people swimming to shore as a crowd watches in confusion.

There were four British tourists in the car. How did they end up driving into a canal? The police suspect they were high on laughing gas. Witnesses claim they were also high on weed. 

It’s apparently a potent combination, as not only did they drive into a canal, it also took “eight or nine” bystanders to rescue them. One even needed to be freed from the car. One struggled enough to almost take his rescuer down with him.

All four Brits are fine, though there’s no available specifics about what they’re up to now. Maybe they went home, or maybe they’re still partying in Amsterdam.
