We Nearly Missed The Collision of Two Space Junks at 32,800 Miles Per Hour

We got lucky.

Couple of days ago two huge pieces of space junk came very close to colliding with one another, which could potentially lead to large sized consequences.

It is precedented that human beings are big on leaving a footprint of everything they do. As such, we have left traces of millions of space junk in the outer space, from rockets, satellites, and other useless junks.

The recent near-incident was induced by two space junks which were traveling towards one another near the South Atlantic Ocean. Even though this might sound like something that would affect us on earth, however the scientists say this would have no such impact on anyone living on earth.

However, the scientists were still worried.

This wasn’t because of the possible effects the incident could have on us down here, but instead because it might have caused a threat to all the non-junk objects we have got going on in and around the orbit.

The science research company, LeoLabs, confirmed that the potential collision didn’t happen. “Due to the rate of speed and volume of debris in LEO, current, and future space-based services, explorations, and operations pose a safety risk to people and property in space and on Earth.”
