The US Army has let us get just a glimpse of what using their new Enhanced Night Vision Goggles-Binocular (ENVG-B) looks like and it is a sight to see! These replace the PVS-14 monoculars and change the look of nighttime entirely. What was once green-and-black visuals of night vision is replaced with bright white, orange, and blue and not to mention – high detail.

Wow, these goggles can even see clearly through dust, smoke, and fog, according to Task & Purpose. The ENVG-Bs is also equipped with a wireless connection, meaning they can connect to weapons and aid soldiers who might have a confined line of view.
2nd Lt. Phillip Davis spoke of the new goggles to US Army:
There’s no comparison between the two. Just the difference in depth perception and clarity is drastic.
The ENVG-Bs are incredible for situational awareness alone. Having that augmented reality with Rapid Target Acquisition allows us to make decisions quicker, and that’s going to save a lot of lives.
The US Military is also on track to incorporate their new Integrated Augmented Vision System (IAVS), further improving the visuals that soldiers have on danger and their whereabouts. It is said that these goggles will allow soldiers to “see through” the armed vehicles they are in to keep an eye on their enemy!
Here’s a video displaying what it looks like using the new ENVG-Bs. Careful, you might feel like you’re in a video game – but this is real life!
This is definitely great technology. What will this mean for future missions? Will our whole life eventually become a video game? If you found this article interesting, check out this one on a US Army base in Japan reportedly poisoning the drinking water of 450,000 people.
