French ski racer Maxence Muzaton sped down the mountain at 70mph at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina, Italy. He caught an edge and tumbled, but amazingly managed to land back on his skis—backward.

Commentator Finlay Mickel struggled to explain what was happening:
“He rolls on, just catches an edge, goes hip down…how he lands a switch there and stays on his feet, I have no idea.”
Nick Fellows, another commentator, remarked, “Muzaton has one of the luckiest escapes I think I’ve ever seen, and this is my 17th World Championships.
“How on earth did he manage to stay on his skis?” Fellows asked.
“Getting on my skis was luck,” Muzaton told CNN. “I did not control (myself) enough in the air.”
