Meet the Man Building a Boat to Sail Solo Across the Atlantic to Meet Elon Musk

Man works to build a boat to sail solo across the Atlantic Ocean and meet Elon Musk.

They say you should never meet your heroes, but Krystian Ryt is going to great lengths to make sure that he can.

From Manchester, UK, 26-year-old Ryt has decided to dedicate countless hours to building a boat to sail by himself across the Atlantic Ocean and meet billionaire Elon Musk. Ryt, who works as a machine operator, does not have any educational or professional experience with constructing boats but has already built four boats in his converted studio.

“I changed my studio flat into a shipyard. For the last few years, I haven’t even gone to parties, I’ve been totally focused on my goals, I sleep for a minimum time, eat enough to survive and this will give me what I want and much more.”

“Sky is no longer the limit when there are footprints on the moon; we can achieve much more in life than we think.”

Although he will be sailing to Starbase, Ryt’s main motivation is not simply meeting Musk. He says, “I respect this man for his impact on humanity, but as soon as I get there, I will decide my next step. I will spend some time in Texas but my goal is to take over all seas and this is what I want and that’s why I’m here.”

“I’m sailing across the Atlantic for my personal glory, knowledge, and experience. Because I want to sail to the US and I love rockets, I decided I can visit Starbase. I want to see Starship and all this spaceport with my own eyes.”

“Maybe more people will start caring about Elon’s idea to make our species multi-planetary.”

This new construction will be an ambitious project for Ryt, given that the longest time he has spent on a boat has been five hours. Traveling across the Atlantic from the UK to Musk’s SpaceX base in Texas should prove to be a two-month journey, but that will not stop Ryt’s determination.

“The point of my life is to put myself in danger and go through hell to become stronger and finally die like a legend.”

“Sailing solo across the Atlantic Ocean is a big step for me. I need to rebuild my boat to make this journey safe and I believe with people’s help we can do that as soon as possible. It will be a lot of work to do but I love it.”

Ryt is rebuilding his first boat, Tryton, to withstand such a long journey across the sea. Tryton is “absolutely unique, this is the first full-size paper boat in the world without any laminate like fiberglass.”

Ryt’s journey is one that does not only require dedication, but also lots of funding. That is why Ryt has set up a GoFundMe to raise £69,000 for his expedition. He extends his invitation for support: “I hope more people will open up to my dreams and they can help me as much as they can. If you would like to join my crew and help me, don’t be shy! I can promise you lots of fun and an epic show in exchange!”
