This week in North Carolina, a Glock 19 was found during a drug raid disguised as a Nerf toy gun, and it has gotten authorities concerned.
Hickory Police Department, Newton Police Department, and Narcotics Investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office organized a raid just north of Charlotte when the weapon was found with a 50-round drum magazine.
In order for the gun to look like a toy, it was painted Nerf’s signature blue and orange colors complete with the company logo.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office released that the disguised gun was only one of 20 shotguns, rifles, and other pistols found on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
Here is what the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office had to say in the release:
“One of these weapons, a converted Glock model 19 pistol with a fifty round drum magazine, had been altered to resemble a toy Nerf gun. Firearms of this type, while not illegal to possess, are concerning to law enforcement.
“Firearms, in general, are commonly seized in conjunction with searches were felony amounts of narcotics are present.“

The raid was organized after gathering evidence of marijuana, narcotics possession and seized quantities of cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, and approximately $2,300 in cash.
35-year-old, Damien Alonzo Burch of Catawba, was arrested and charged with misdemeanour possession of marijuana, felonious possession of cocaine, and felonious possession of mushrooms.
According to Catawba County Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Aaron Turk, Burch was formally advised of the charges against him in Catawba County District Court on Thursday and was released on a $20,000 unsecured bond.
There is still no information behind the motive of the design of the disguised weapon.
