Jet Li has hyperthyroidism and spinal problems and the star revealed he was unable to perform stressful physical activities due to his condition.
I asked my mum if she remembered Jet Li from her time, and she excitedly began telling me how big of a fan she was of him. She talks about her favourite films such as The One, Hero, Fearless and her favourite; Romeo Must Die. She remembers what it was like watching his films from a young age and how brilliant and ‘hot’, he was. Her words.
Other fans have told the website South China Morning Post:
“He was so active before and now he looks like an old man.”
“I couldn’t even recognise him”
Here is what Jet Li looked like back in 2013:
It’s insane how a 55-year-old man, a huge martial art sportsman can look 90 years old in such a small period of time.
Check out this fight scene of his from Cradle 2 The Grave release in 2003:
However, the man himself said to South China Morning Post that “I’m just a regular guy. I’m not Wong Fei-hung. I’m not Huo Yuanjia [kung fu heroes he has portrayed on film]. I’m just like you.”
We can all hope for a pain-free and long life for him.
On a brighter note, Jet Li is in the works to be in the 2020 live-action release of Mulan.
