A home for sale in the Avondale Heights suburbs of Melbourne has caught unwanted attention across social media after people noticed that there is a haphazardly placed mini driving range in the backyard.

The house, located at 49 Barbara Crescent, lists its lovely three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a view overlooking the Maribyrnong River and parklands and trails bordering its banks.

The description of the house on its listing on realestate.com.au describes the home as “brilliantly, beautifully unique”, and features “expensive docking, manicured lawns and the endless views” that are “enhanced by a personal viewing deck overlooking the Maribyrnong River and a substantial basement garage”.

As it turns out, this “personal viewing deck” is a homemade driving range, where one can launch golf balls into the surrounding areas.

Regardless of a home driving range’s ability to fulfill every golfers dream, Twitter users were more than happy to point out that teeing-off Happy Gilmore-style poses a great danger those who use the river’s trail for daily walks.

One Twitter user remarked: “Are they just whacking golf balls into the Maribyrnong River?”

Another criticized the owners, adding: “What the hell?! There are two pedestrian/bike trails along the river below there!”

The idea of going for a relaxing walked and getting knocked in the head by a golfball does seem like the type of thing the piss off even the most levelheaded of people.

In addition, there is no way dozens of golf can be good for the local wildlife residing in and around the river.
