A women-only island has just been founded off the coast of Finland.
Kristina Roth, the creator of the island, told the New York Post that “The idea is, hey, focus on yourself — don’t try to get your hormones up.”
After visiting several restorative resorts, she noticed a restlessness in women. “When there was a cute guy, women would put on lipstick.”
“I love men!” Roth said. But as a representative of her company told The Independent: “Women need time to spend with other women” to “nurture each other’s dreams and desires.”
Currently, the island is only open to women Roth knows, but that will change in July when the public will be able to apply through a vetting process.
“I’d like to vet the person and see that they’re well-rounded and would fit in,” she told the Post, “but I don’t want to be elitist.”
The island is unlikely to be available to anyone on a budget though. Global News reports that an all-inclusive week will cost US$3,500.
The island will be alcohol-free, as well as testosterone-free. This is so women can “focus on health and wellness… many people use these retreats as an opportunity to reset their lives,” a spokesperson told Global News.
Roth’s company SuperShe was listed on Forbes’ list of fastest-growing women-run businesses in 2016.
