We all know someone who has gone to extreme lengths to watch a blockbuster film, and when it comes to Avengers, we are talking the blockbuster of all blockbusters. So with that in mind, a Korean soldier has decided to flee the army base he was stationed at just to watch the Marvel film.
The soldier in question was one of eighteen who are part of the Republic of Korea Air Force, South Korea, and he was due to leave the base for public service duty earlier this week reportedly. However it seems that he did leave, but not for the right reasons!
After going AWOL, the forces followed his trail and managed to find a taxi driver who told them that he had given him a lift to the cinema. Needless to say, the man managed to catch the full three-hour feature length, but was arrested as soon as he left the big screen.
The New York Post reported that the soldier said: “”I wanted to see the Avengers movie so I ran away from the site while we were standing by.”
A spokesperson from the Korean military said: “”We will enforce our training so the soldiers assigned to public welfare activity can focus on their mission.”
However, to be honest, can you really blame someone for going to those lengths to see the film? I mean it has been hailed as an absolute ‘masterpiece’ by critics and fans alike. On arguably the world’s most popular film review site Rotten Tomatoes, the superhero hit has an audience rating of 89% and a Certified Fresh rating of 95% with the Critics Consensus stating that the film is “exciting, entertaining, and emotionally impactful. Avengers: Endgame does whatever it takes to deliver a satisfying finale to Marvel’s epic Infinity Saga.”
Can’t really argue with that can you? Further to that, it looks like the franchise are going to rake in a massive 2 Billion dollars from Endgame, which will make it one of the highest grossing films of all time.
