The wait to watch a movie in theaters is over. A cinema in Japan modified its seats to be distant friendly.
Much of quarantine time consists of social distancing yourself from strangers, friends, and even family. Consequently, COVID-19 restaurants, bars, movie theaters, and the like had to close and abide by each country’s respective health guidelines.
Fortunately for moviegoers, AEON’s cinemas in Japan installed socially distant seats.
What’s so special about this?
They are 1.5 meters larger than conventional seats, for starters, which will keep you at a safe distance from other watchers while also providing comfort.
The seat also includes a cup holder, extra space thanks to a wooden partition for social distancing, a coat hanger, as well as a small shelve.
Unilad reports that AEON’s website claims their seats are one “with the feeling of a private room where you can concentrate more on the screen and immerse yourself in the movie world without worrying about the line of sight from the next seat.”
It expresses the following:
We would like you to watch the movie in a safer, more comfortable environment. With that in mind, we have prepared an upgrade sheet on a part of each screen so that you can experience the feeling of a private room.
Customers can easily upgrade their tickets by dropping an extra 500 yen (£3.33) and get a free drink along the way.
So if you find yourself in Japan eager for an escape, watching a movie in a theater could be a nice distraction.
