Nando’s Has a New Amazing Recipe You Can Make at Home!

You can now get your Nando’s fix at home!

For someone from the States, I have never heard of Nando’s before. Yet, this is a staple many in the UK are familiar with and love. And after looking around their website, I think I am officially jealous I have never tried this amazing food!

Nando’s uses something called PERi-PERi sauce, this is made from a South African chili called African Bird’s eye Chili’s. It was only after the Portuguese discovered the chilis that lemon and garlic were added. Thus the first PERi-PERi sauce was born and you can even buy it on Amazon if you live in the States! (Yes, I am buying some right away.)

This ultra craveable food has been something many on social media have discussed missing this food so much. The geniuses over at Nando’s had a fix for that and shared a recipe anyone can make at home! The recipe is below and please share with us if you make this and how delicious it was.

The dressing

  • 50ml PERi-PERi sauce – whatever flavour you desire (link for US purchase above!)
  • 10ml soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

The rice bowl

  • 2 tbsp sesame oil and 1 tbsp vegetable oil mixed together
  • 1 courgette, grated — (US note, this is a zucchini!)
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 80g spinach
  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 150g cooked shredded chicken
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsps vinegar

Method

  1. Cook your rice as per the instruction on the packet – if you’re being lazy and using microwave rice, hold off on this step until later
  2. In a frying pan, add your mixed oil and all of your vegetables until their slightly soft
  3. Whilst your vegetables are cooking, heat a saucepan of water. Once boiled add your vinegar, whisk the water and crack in an egg.
  4. After three minutes take the egg out and drain on a paper towel
  5. In another drying pan, add your PERi-PERi sauce, soy sauce, sesame seeds and brown sugar. When the sugar has dissolved, add your chicken
  6. Once the chicken is cooked, all you have left to do is dish it up
  7. Pop your rice into a bowl, top with your veg, chicken and poached egg
