Natalie Sideserf is a celebrity baker, specialising in hyperrealistic cake sculpting techniques. In this video she sculpts an exact match of the Adidas ZX 2K Boost, starting from the sole up.

Imagine one day trying on your shoe but suddenly you feel your toes plough through sponge. It sounds super odd, but that is exactly what would happen if you tried on this trainer.

Created by Natalie Sideserf, a talented cake artist from Ohio, the trainer is made by hand and detailed to look exactly like the real thing, all the way down to the tread pattern.

In the video, Natalie explains the technicalities of how she designs the cake. She points out the tools and baking materials she uses to ensure a hyperrealist effect.

The sole of the trainer is designed first. It supports the layers of sponge and blueberry buttercream used to layer the cake. Interestingly, every single element of the cake is edible – even the paint used to colour the cake is food colouring.

When the finished cake is cut it is oddly satisfying, and looks delicious!

All of Natalie’s cakes, including this trainer, are made in the Sideserf Cake Studio in Austin, Texas. Just by looking at her Instagram page it is obvious the baker has no shortage of original ideas. Like this tasty Alphabet Spaghettio cake.

But Natalie is not the only baker that can whip up a hyperrealistic cake, check out this wedding cake that looks as if it’s made from ramen noodles.
