Avatar: The Way of Water is a sequel to the science fiction film, Avatar. James Cameron directs the sequel and the original, a significant figure in the post-New Hollywood era. Cameron has been part of many projects, including The Terminator, Titanic, and The Abyss. The movie is written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver and is based on the fictional character provided by Cameron.
Avatar: The Way of Water made its debut on December 6, 2022, in London and on December 16, 2022, in the US. The film stars Sam Worthington, Matt Gerald, Zoe Saldaña, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, and CCH Pounder.
The plot is set a decade after the events of Avatar. Now, Jake Sully lives as chief of the Omaticaya and raises a family with Neytiri. He has two sons (Neteyam and Lo’ak) and two daughters (Tuk and Kiri). Jake also has a human boy named Spider. The film has become one of the top ten films of 2022 and has been nominated for Best Motion Picture – Drama at 80th Golden Globe Awards.
The project has expected to gross over $574–803 million and an estimated $17 million from Thursday night previews. The movie’s visuals are said to be stunningly immersive, the plot is appreciated as sufficiently engaging, and the characters are brought to justice.
As per updates, the sequel will be followed by two more planned projects, Avatar 3 and 4. Their arrival will be decided after seeing the total success of Avatar 2 and 3. The original movie is streaming on Disney+, implying that the sequel will also be available on Disney+ or Hulu. Netflix is least expected the gain the rights to the movie, and it will be made available for streaming sometime in 2023.
