Ana de Armas’s long-awaited role of the iconic Marilyn Monroe is finally here as Blonde begins its theatrical run.
Ana de Armas stars as Monroe in a film based on Joyce Carol Oates’s novel. Blonde showcases the life and events of a fictionalized version of Monroe. Monroe’s real name was Norma Jeane Mortenson, and she became one of the biggest stars of the 1950s and 1960s. The film tells us about her public and private life as Monroe deals with addiction, exploitation, and unsteady love life. The film has attracted controversies through its graphic nature, receiving an NC-17 rating.
Andrew Dominik is the writer/director of this film. This will be Dominik’s first feature film since 2012’s Killing Them Softly. Alongside de Armas are Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel, and Julianne Nicholson. Plan B Entertainment, composed of Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner, will be involved in the film’s production.
As of September 21st, de Armas’s film can only be viewed theatrically. However, Blonde only acquired a limited theatrical run, which means it can only be seen in a few theaters. Viewers should check the local listings or an app like Fandango for tickets and showtimes to know about its availability.
Those who want to watch this film from the comfort of their home won’t have to wait much longer as Netflix will soon distribute it. Blonde will make its way to the streamer on September 28th.
