The last episode of The Walking Dead was a big success for AMC, although the ratings were far below the initial peak.
A week ago, on November 20th, The Walking Dead ended forever. The finale, “Rest in Peace,” was a success for AMC in general, especially for the network’s streaming service AMC+.
According to Variety, November 20th was the service’s greatest day ever, and “Rest in Peace” is the most-watched television episode on this platform.
The linear ratings were not bad either. The series finale gathered 3.1 million viewers on average, up 36% from the penultimate episode the week prior.
AMC executive Dan McDermott said, “What a great conclusion to the ‘zombie show’ that kicked off on Halloween night in 2010 and became the most successful series in the history of cable television.”
“To celebrate this extraordinary series for more than three hours at a live event with thousands of the fans who have driven this series since the beginning was a perfect way to end the flagship series while, at the same time, sharing our collective excitement for the stories and worlds yet to be explored in this growing and vibrant franchise.” he added.
There were more than three hours of entertainment because “Rest in Peace” had a runtime of 90 minutes and was followed by an episode of the chat show The Talking Dead. Speaking of the “growing” franchise, more Walking Dead stuff is coming our way.
