DC is undergoing a significant leadership change and restructuring its new co-CEOs, James Gunn and Peter Safran. Safran and Gunn are trying to develop a long-term plan for the DCEU to compete with the MCU. That plan also involves the long-awaited Man of Steel sequel and Wonder Woman 3.
Gunn is developing two new Superman movies that will not feature Cavill’s character version. One of those Superman films will focus on a young Clark Kent, while the other in the works is J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Black Superman movie.
On December 14th, Cavill declared that he would not return to this role through an Instagram post.
Will Henry Cavill return to The Witcher?
Cavill’s schedule has opened up, and many hope he returns to The Witcher for its upcoming fourth season. But that might not happen. Maybe if Netflix hadn’t already recast the role, there could be a discussion.
Cavill has always been stubborn about sticking to Andrzej Sapkowski’s original vision presented in the Witcher books, and the show seems to have gone in a different direction. Cavill’s statements during interviews and to the press indicate that he has fought against some creative decisions made in the show.
The new Deadline article states that sources have confirmed that Cavill will not return to The Witcher and that his departure from the show was entirely his choice.
