Did You Know There Was Going To Be A Forrest Gump Sequel?

What we didn’t know, didn’t hurt us.

The sequel was cancelled in light of the horrific events of 9/11.

Okay, can we all just take a second to appreciate how utterly incredible Forrest Gump is?

To this day I have never cried so much over a film. It’s undeniably one of the best films ever made. If you disagree, I suggest you re-watch it until you can learn to show some respect.

For all of you who do love the film however, I have some sad news.

There was going to be a sequel. That’s right, a Forrest Gump no. 2.

Screenwriter Eric Roth recently revealed that he had finished writing the film the day before 9/11, 10th September 2001.

Roth also spoke about some of the film’s major plot points. The film would have centred around Little Forrest, who sadly had AIDs and therefore faced untold difficulties at school.

Another major plot line involved a Native American woman, who took a shine to Little Forrest, who died when the nursery school where she worked was blown up.

Okay well, I can see why the sequel was cancelled after 9/11, given the plot line.

It’s a shame we never got to see the film, but if I’m honest, it sounds unbearably sad, and I think the original has us covered on that front.

Speaking of the original, it’s getting a remake. You can read about it here.
