There will be a Squid Game season 2, but it’s just not ready to be released yet.

Netflix officially declared that this hit series will be returning on June 12th via Twitter. However, there is some bad news for those hoping to catch the second installment of Squid games this month. Season 2 will still need some time to be released.

It was officially declared on June 12th that Netflix has confirmed the second season of Squid Game. Director, Writer, and Executive Producer of the series, Hwang Dong-Hyuk, also hinted on social media to give a hint about what’s to come. It was mentioned that it took “12 years to bring Squid Game to life,” but it only required “12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever.”

An official release date for the second season has still not been revealed by Netflix. However, it’s highly unlikely that the viewers will be forced to wait for another 12 years before season 2. Although there still will be a considerable amount of waiting period before the next chapter in Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-Jae) and the Front Man’s (Lee Byung-hun) arrives.

During an interview with Vanity Fair back in May, Hwang predicted that the new series could be released by the end of 2023 or 2024.
